Prepping for your Pick

How to make your pick fun for everyone!

We provide you with buckets to pick in – this allows us to more quickly and accurately check you out.  We will empty your pick into paper baskets or into whatever receptacle you have brought with you to bring your berries ho me.  No personal buckets or bowls are allowed in the field.

It is hot in the field! There is no shade in the field.  This is a big part of why we suggest that you pick as early in the day as possible.  Ensure that you have water, a hat and sunglasses.  Sunscreen is a must.  And we also suggest that you consider long sleaves.

We also suggest closed toed shoes.  This is for safety, but also for you and your shoes – it is a field and you will walking on dirt in some places.  Take it from me, I have learned the hard way how fast foot sweat, dirt and open toed shoes turn into ruined footwear and time with the pumice stone.

Let’s take a moment to elaborate on what you should NOT bring with you to the farm:

  1. Your Dog(s) – or any other living creature that is not human.  There are a couple of dogs that call the farm home.  They are inside the house during business hours – as you can imagine it would be quite distressing to them to have other animals roaming around.  Also, summer temperatures make it unsafe for your animal companion to safely hang out in your vehicle – and we do not have the flexibility of offering you parking in the shade.
  2. Containers that you want to pick into – we will provide you with a standard food quality plastic bucket.  This allows us to more quickly process your order accurately.  It also helps to make sure that you get your product home in the best quality possible.

Other than that, just bring your beautiful selves.
